The club chairman spoke about the latest developments at the club and was relaxed about the make up of the squad for next season. As for Eto'o, he said that “the club would like him to be here for a lot more years”.

Joan Laporta, who was attending the 50th anniversary celebrations of the Cardedeu Supporters’ Club, spoke about current events at Barça, and in particular Samuel Eto'o’s future. For Laporta “he’s the best striker in the world”.

“Eto'o ends his contract next season and that means we have to sit down and talk,” he went on. “The club would like him to be here for a lot more years in line with our salary structure.”

Players who want to win silverware

21-06-09_PENYA_CARDEDEU_08.jpgAs for next season’s squad, the club chairman said that “experience enables us to correct mistakes and we hope that we can keep up the level of motivation, and you do that by creating competition in the positions which the coaches have mentioned to us”. Even though he was understandably unwilling to reveal names of potential signings, he did say they would be “players who want to win silverware”.
